As I was waiting for Kellys burrito and my 4 tacos I overheard a couple memorable quotes:

Older lady:

Do you like to cook?? I know I don’t, I might just drive this bus home!”

Mechanic who just got off work:

How much are the Tacos? ($1.20) Ok, I’ll take 15

I’ll be the first to admit that I am not a connoisseur when it comes to liquor, but I do occasionally enjoy a concoction or two.

I recently discovered Hendrick’s Gin at a small off-the-beaten-path Greek place downtown. The bartender recommended it, so I took a chance, but I was a little surprised when it came with a cucumber rather than a lime. Since I was at a Greek bar, I just figured it was a Greek thing and left it at that. In fact I had a Hendrick’s gin and tonic at the Garage in Capitol hill and it came with a lime, so that reinforced the "Greek" line of thought.

Just today I went to the liquor store for some rum (Kelly was making toffee) and I spotted a bottle of Hendrick’s. It piqued my interest, so when I got home I did some research. Turns out that the producer of Hendrick’s actually recommends that it be served with a cucumber since it is infused with rose petals and cucumbers – I guess it brings out the flavor. Whatever is happening, the end result is quite pleasant. I know what you men out there are thinking – rose petals and cucumbers? May sound foofy, but don’t knock it until you try it.

Today I got up early (for a Saturday) and grabbed the paper on my way to breakfast. I decided on a place up on NW 85th St.

Wild Mountain Cafe:
Website
Yelp

The staff was very friendly and the place had quite a bit of charm. It looked like it was a house converted into a restaurant with hard wood floors and enchanting little rooms through out.

I decided to sit at the counter with another local who had brought his dog with him. There was a large window in the front where we could see his dog eating and just enjoying the sunny weather on the porch.

I ended up ordering the ‘joe schmoe‘, which is a standard bacon, eggs, hash browns, and toast. The bacon was excellent, and the hash browns had garlic I believe. All in all, it was a place I would definitely go back to.
